Yes, they have php also. I tried to install the php yabb, but I found out that it required a mySQL database, which I don't have.

Yeah, it is too bad that PHP doesn't have perls dbmopen( function. But, MySQL is actually much better when you have it.

Ok, back to original topic. What do you mean by 'making kevtiva more dynamic'? I started learning php this week, and it was much easier than I thought, if you know html, then it's no match to start coding in php. I just coded a simple guestbook for cirrus, check it out here: cirrus.tigalaxy.com/guestbook/index.php

Ok, back to original topic. What do you mean by 'making kevtiva more dynamic'? I started learning php this week, and it was much easier than I thought, if you know html, then it's no match to start coding in php. Well, just like that: the guestbook being a part of kevtiva, not a link to an external site. <br> What I would like is a special member's area for Kevtiva Members: The they could upload files, add screenshots, etc, and I wouldn't have to do all the work. This could be done using a php script. <br> How do you connect php to a database (probably mysql)? That is the only thing I don't understand completely; if I understood that, I could probably get stuff done! BTW, the server we've got www.kevtiva.com/ running on is: Apache, w/FP extensions, w/SSI. I don't know what else it has yet... How can you have a guestbook w/o a database?

You can write to a text file, and code a text file reader information retriver.
I don't know much PHP, but that would be easy to do in perl.
Do you know of any good sites that teah PHP? If you do, what are they.
Thank You.

From my experience, it's best go get a book.

I concur; it's always good to learn from a book.
Sorry, I don't know how to access a mySQL database. I'm sure they tell how to access it in the official PHP manual. A guestbook is easy to code no matter what language, but you can't deny that PHP is the ultimate language for handling form input.

What is RSA encryption?
I got a perl book, and that is how I learned perl. Before the book, I made no progress.
David, Go check out mysql.com, it is all explained there.
Also, your site is down.

I din't know what the acronym RSA stands for, but I at least know that it's a very powerful encryption method. Did you get any error message when you tried to access cirrus.tigalaxy.com ?

Are you sure you typed in the correct url? If you type a non-exisisting url, then you will be redirected to the main page of tigalaxy.

Hey, PHP is the simplest programming language I've ever learned! I learned it in like a week. I have since been to busy with other things to mess around with it though. You can go to the official PHP site and they have some good tutorials there. Also you'll need to download PHP 4, Apache, and MySQL. Real easy way to get Apache to work is to get PHPtriad. It's free and installs and sets up Apache and MySQL for you. Also I use the Zend Studio development enviroment to do all of my PHP programming, it's awesome. Just thought I'd add that info to the post. Hope it was helpful in anyway to anyone.

This is also my first post on these boards, just so ya'll know.

Hi
I realize that this is 2003 and the last message was posted in 2002. Do you still need PHP help? (because I may be able to help)
