I could write a small program in Visual Basic to simply ask you to browse and select the .asm or .z80 the same way you open documents with a word processor.
I have an Idea, but I am going to keep it secret for now, the ultimate solution ;D

I have an idea that is even better than the program that I would create in VB. It won't even take long to do, I am just lazy.

what i don't get is that after you write about 4 or so programs that are each over 34 pages long, nobody believes that you're lazy, why is that

Don't know. Does burned out work better? Once I get started I am fine, but I don't sit down to program as often as I used to.

what's ur email, i'll send you my asm development package (btw justin, the asm.bat file in it is a fairly modified version of the one u sent me) ok, when u open it, move all the contents into C:tasm\ ok, i've set up to use objhex, because when i used devpack8x, i kept getting an err:invalid message when i tried to run the program...ok, back to compiling...you need to use notepad to open start.bat, then change the it so it says...asm (the name of the program your compiling)...then save it, now to compile the program, just run start.bat and it will take care of all the directory stuff, makes it MUCH easier...then you'll have a new file called (the programs you just compiled's name).hex now open that in notepad, now create a new program in winlink, put the asmprgm token at the top, then copy/paste the stuff in the .hex file into the winlink program, save it, and you have an asm program

I don't know about you, but I prefer windows IDEs. I used DevPac8x before, and the directory switching, bat-file changing (although I was able to fix it), and just annoyance sent me to IDEs. These have problems too (stay away from ION Studio), but some are actually useful. My current favorite is Asm Studio 8x, it works for the 83+ and the 86. It should work for the 83, too. It made things easier (even if it does have its problems...)
